Summative Assessment
Educators should allow for students to create a variety of products to demonstrate their learning. TechnoKids (2013) recommends that teachers use generalized assessment tools to assess summative projects. Such assessments should focus on content and performance criteria, presentation, organization, originality, and sources. Having students generate their own assessment tools to match specific devices is another option. This critical thinking activity will make students more aware of the criteria, project design and learning processes. Several online rubric generators exist. Sample rubrics can also be easily accessed online through various websites such as edtechteacher.
